James Joseph Rohal

James J. Rohal, lover of the arts, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the age of 73. He is survived by his three sons, Chandler (Johnna) Rohal, Matthew Rohal and Warren (Pamela) Rohal, and his four grandchildren, Chase, Briklynn, Megan and Piper.<br><br>Jimmy grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, graduated with a BFA from Penn State University in 1964 and served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS William V. Pratt. He worked as a graphic designer for Better Homes & Gardens, NCR and Needham-Harper and Steers. For the majority of his professional life he was the sole proprietor of Jim Rohal Graphic Design studio in Dayton, OH. <br><br>Jim was bohemian. He had a zest for international folk dancing, sharing music and the arts, and exploring by sail, pedal and boot. He was an active and valuable member of many organizations of the arts in the Dayton area including the South Slavic Club, the Miami Valley Folk Dancers, and the Dayton International Festival.<br><br>Jim was generous with his time, heart, and creativity…he was steady as a rock. He will be sorely missed.<br><br>A reception will be held Wednesday, September 23rd from 5-8 pm at the Schlientz and Moore funeral home located at 1632 Wayne Ave., in Dayton. In addition, the family will plan a celebration of life for Jim in the not-to-distant future near his hometown in Johnstown. <br>
