Obituary
Peter Y. Alexander, age 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his family. Born in 1949, in Bryan, Texas, he was the son of the late James Y. Alexander and Marianna (William) Kimmel Oliver.
Peter was a family man of quiet strength and reserve who was passionate about golf and an avid reader who loved to fire up the grill year-round. He rooted for the Reds and Bengals and made a pretty mean chili. Peter also loved music and gardening and appreciated a good scotch. He was a 1967 graduate of Oakwood High School where he lettered in 3 sports and was offered a swimming scholarship by Texas A&M, but attended The Ohio State University. Peter greatly loved his family and was loved in return.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Lori Hart Alexander and their twin children, Morgan and Matthew; and a sister Sara (Kim) Alexander. He is survived by 2 sons, James (Melanie) Alexander of Cincinnati; Sean (Katie) Alexander of Vandalia; a sister, Polly Mayhew of Oakwood; a niece, Alexandra Mayhew of Oakwood; 3 grandchildren, Hannah, Isabel, and Cooper Alexander of Vandalia; and cousins, George Towle Lytle, Connie (Rooney) Mereness, and Sally (George) Parkin.
A memorial service officiated by The Rev. Deborah Woolsey will be held on Tuesday July 29th at 11:00 AM St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 33 West Dixon Ave, off of Far Hills Ave, in Oakwood, OH.
