Lt. Col Bryan, Joseph Roy, 54 gained his angel wings on August 4, 2014, due to Cancer. He passed away peacefully at home and was surrounded by loving family. Roy was born on October 11, 1959, to Billy and Ann Bryan of New Haven, Ky.

Roy is survived by a loving wife, Deborah Bryan of Centerville, OH, and three children, Quintin Bryan (Lyndsey) of Columbus OH, Zach Bryan, Bianca Bryan and one grandchild, Carter Mullins of Centerville, OH. Roy is also survived by his parents Billy and Ann Bryan, of New Haven, KY and three sisters, Mary Ann Bryan of Florida, Sandy Poteet (Jim) of Lawrenceburg KY, and Teresa Bryan of New Haven, KY, four brothers, Phil, John and Tommy Bryan, all of New Haven, KY and Dan Bryan (Sue) of Chaplin, KY and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and Mother in Law Janet Conn of Monticello, Ky. Roy was preceded in death by one brother Kent Bryan of New Haven, KY, maternal grandparents Damon and Aleatha Brown and paternal grandparents Richard and Zelphia Bryan and Father in Law, William S. Conn, Jr.

Roy had an incredible and adventurous career in the Air Force and traveled to many parts of the world. Roy served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was the first one in and the last one out as Commander of his unit. Roy served a tour of duty at Incirlik Air Base, Adana Turkey and shortly after arriving, received notice to attend Air Command and Staff College in residence at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Al, where only a select few get to attend. Roy served as OSS Commander at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and was instrumental in organizing many important events such as Air Shows, and the first Tattoo, in which he created the name ”Freedoms Call” which he organized with General Martin, which delayed his retirement from the Air Force.

Roy enjoyed several hobbies, which included flying planes, driving his race car and participating in the El Tour De Tucson. Roy was a member of the VFW 9550 of Centerville OH and the American Legion 776 of Mad River, OH.

Roy initiated the first JROTC at Paint Valley High School in Chillicothe, OH and then transferred to Lebanon High School JROTC in Lebanon, OH and then finally ended his teaching career at Stebbins High School JROTC in Mad River, OH.

Lt. Col. Roy Bryan will be sorely missed by not only his family and friends but by all of his students over the years.
Funeral arrangements are as follows: August 7, 2014 at Schlientz and Moore Funeral Home, 820 West Centerville Road, Dayton OH 45459. Visitation is from 3:00pm -7:00pm with service immediately following.

Roy will be transferred to Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home, 324 Center St, New Haven, KY 40051. Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2014 from 3:00pm-8:00pm, with prayers at 6:00pm. The Funeral and Mass will be Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 8191 New Haven Road, Culvertown/New Haven, KY. Burial to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Bardstown, Ky.
